4 Obstacles with Online testing:

  1. Students have trouble composing online - need practice in all subjects
  2. Math Equation Editor
  3. Drag and Drop
  4. Make Time on Computer Authentic - students need to think the test is no big deal

Students need simulations where they must read and follow instructions. Technology can facilitate this in many ways.

Drag & Drop:

  • Student handwriting reveals a lot - do they have fine motor skills? Will drag & drop be an issue?
  • Students should practice drag & drop on multiple devices; practice device may not be testing device.

Drag & Drop Online Activities:

Create Drag & Drop Activities With Your Content:

  • Easel.ly - Creating infographics
  • Cacoo - create drag & drop activities (free version)  (diagrams, flowcharts, timelines, charts, organizational tool.) Students can collaborate, work together on a diagram.
    • Examples:  Math-explain the steps to a problem, History-sequence events, Science-diagram scientific method, cause/effect, sequencing,

Composing Digitally:  Students must strengthen online writing

PARCC Math Tools:

Christy's PARCC Technology Document - created with the help of Dover K-5 teachers
